    Long Covid

is something I have been mentioning
and trying to raise awareness of ,
since quite early in this pandemic ,
but hasn't had the awarenes it obviously deserves.

    It is real ,
    and for many suffering
    It Is Long Term.

Even with our low numbers we have some suffering ,
including several from early in the pandemic who are still suffering severe symptoms ,
    well Over a year later.

One of our earliest cases ,
    still after over 17 months.

So I'm just going to paste in the whole article.

New Study Finds More Than A Third Of COVID-19 Patients Have Symptoms Months Later

    September 29, 20212:00 PM ET

    Symptoms of COVID-19 persist
    or recur months after diagnosis

for more than a third of all people who get the illness,
a new study finds, potentially pushing the number of so-called long COVID cases higher than previously thought.

In the study published Tuesday in the journal PLOS Medicine, researchers found that about 36% of those studied still reported COVID-like symptoms three and six months after diagnosis. Most previous studies have estimated lingering post-COVID symptoms in 10% to 30% of patients.

The study, led by University of Oxford scientists in the United Kingdom, searched anonymized data from millions of electronic health records, primarily in the United States, to identify
a study group of 273,618 patients with COVID-19
    and
114,449 patients with influenza as a control.

    Some patients had symptoms
"months" after "having none at all"

Although long COVID is poorly defined, the researchers looked at such symptoms as chest/throat pain, abnormal breathing, abdominal symptoms, fatigue, depression, headaches, cognitive dysfunction and muscle pain.

"The research found that over 1 in 3 patients had one or more features of long-COVID recorded between 3 and 6 months after a diagnosis of COVID-19,"
    the authors concluded.

The researchers also found that of those who had long COVID three to six months after diagnosis, roughly 40% had no record of such symptoms in the prior three months.

Long-haul symptoms for COVID seem to be hitting more often than they do for the flu.

Months after the pandemic began, scientists, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, warned about a post-viral syndrome that was showing up in people who had recovered from COVID.
That led some to compare the symptoms experienced by many following COVID-19 to the same experience that some people have after other viral infections, such as the flu.

But the new study concludes that
the chances of getting COVID-19 symptoms months after the acute stage of the illness was
more than twice as high as for influenza.

The Oxford-led team also found that people who had more severe COVID-19 illness were more likely to get long COVID.

    Likewise ,
female and young adult patients also had an elevated risk for the long-term symptoms,

but the authors of the study found no difference between white and nonwhite patients .

    * * * * *

So clearly the "at least 10%" thaught to be affected early on ,
was only the tip of the iceberg ,

which did become clear over time
but now at least we have some reliable research starting .
(now we await results of studies of it after 12 to 18 months , and so on)

So please protect your young ones ,
    if nothing else.

I have seen scores of testimonials from people with long haul trying to tell people you do not want this. It gets you in ways you never imagined. And I have not seen any new information on it but I have seen reports that getting the vaccine helps treat COVID long haul. But the only sane thing to do is get the vaccine in the first place.

We had a break out at our local senior citizen center that hospitalized 4 and killed one. And now one of them has long haul symptoms.

U.S. Hits 700,000 COVID Deaths Just As Cases Begin To Fall !!
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The United States reached its latest heartbreaking pandemic milestone Friday, eclipsing 700,000 deaths from COVID-19 just as the surge from the delta variant is starting to slow down and give overwhelmed hospitals some relief.

It took 3½ months for the U.S. to go from 600,000 to 700,000 deaths, driven by the variant’s rampant spread through unvaccinated Americans. The death toll is larger than the population of Boston.

This milestone is especially frustrating to public health leaders and medical professionals on the front lines because vaccines have been available to all eligible Americans for nearly six months and the shots overwhelmingly protect against hospitalizations and death. An estimated 70 million eligible Americans remain unvaccinated, providing kindling for the variant.

“You lose patients from COVID and it should not happen,” said Debi Delapaz, a nurse manager at UF Health Jacksonville who recalled how the hospital was at one point losing eight patients a day to COVID-19 during the summer surge. “This is something that should not happen.”

Despite the rising death toll, there are signs of improvement.

Nationwide, the number of people now in the hospital with COVID-19 has fallen to somewhere around 75,000 from over 93,000 in early September. New cases are on the downswing at about 112,000 per day on average, a drop of about one-third over the past 2½ weeks.
Deaths, too, appear to be declining, averaging about 1,900 a day versus more than 2,000 about a week ago.

That last sentence is the one that gets me, That's like a 9/11 every couple days. We lost nearly 3,000 lives that and the entire nation came together. But now we barely bat an eye at 700,000 dead.

I think he might be referring to it being a divisive event, rather than one that culminated in collective resolve and caring for each other.

Perhaps, but I sincerely doubt it.
Comparing the intentional killing of thousands by way of a terrorist act to the deaths caused by a virus, is not plausible.
What I see is two basic groups of people reacting to a pandemic in different ways. But, both groups are shocked by the deaths of so many, and neither group is turning a blind eye to the tragic deaths.

We are still etching about 2,000 Americans die a day from COVID. More than died from the 1918 Flue and more than died in all our wars since World War I. For no reason. Even before the vaccine we had ways to at least mitigate the spread of the virus with lock downs and wearing masks. But instead of coming together as a nation to combat a common enemy about half the country rejected science and medicine and refused to cooperate. Spreading the virus coast to coast unnecessarily. And then vaccines were created in record time but again about 25% of the country would rather eat horse dewormer than simply get vaccinated. When all of them have been vaccinated against diseases their whole lives. They would rather be a dearth cult. And this forum just like the nation is full of members of that death cult.

What is the vaccination rate in Tennessee?

Not as good as it should be.
But, eliminating the ignorant ones and those who are not eligible, the rate is as good as anywhere else in the US.

Yesterday, we had over 12.000 cases, that's huge ... mainly because people are unvaccinated (only 30 %) ... ICU places are few left, probably some will die at the hospital entrance waiting for treatment ...

Well I didn t take an anti Covid vaccine cause I don t think that it is propely tested. Instead of that I took two different vaccine separatly, one is anti flu vac other is anti pneumonia . These day wify is very busy doing vein injections to reletives and freinds who got infected. There are also privaitly pay pations. Many ppl who have been vaccinated all the same got infected. I personally think that this infection saves many billions anpayed pension money. Cause it mostly kills older folks. So I think that it s artificial virus.

    BULLSHIT

    YOUR IGNORANCE
    IS ONLY SURPASSED BY
    YOUR STUPIDITY

IF IT WERE A PLANY FOR DEPOPULATION
    THEN
IT WAS A VERY DUMB PLAN
    BECAUSE
IT DOSE NOT KILL ENOUGH TO DEPOPULATE .

THERE ARE MUCH MORE DEADLY VIRUSES
    AND DISEASES.

    WHICH KILL FAR MORE PROPLE

    and
why would these imaginary characters , who are so stupid as to use a useless viral weapon ,
then rush to produce vaccinations and pills to stop it doing their job .

    One part of your stupidity
    contradicts the other part.

    That's how dumb you are.

You know, the unvaccinated who are that way by choice, are kinda like volunteer guinea pigs. Except for the problem that they are causing for healthcare workers and the load they are placing on hc facilities, they are mostly risking their own health.
So after this is all over, those that are left can be happy that they contributed to the cause.
