I think I'm gonna buy a farm. It's a no lose proposition. I don't even have to plant crops, because the government will pay me to watch weeds grow. Maybe I better buy weed insurance, just in case.

The trope that all farmers are paid to do their work is just an absolute fallacy.

My BFF operates a farm in the midwest. Some people call it a farmette; she's got 10 acres. On that she raises different livestock, and sells it to local clients. These are hand-raised, organic, free-range animals. She farms mindfully, carefully, and ethically.

What does she get from the government? Jack shit. She gets nothing, no cheap utilities, nothing. And if it weren't for her pension, she wouldn't be able to keep the damn farm, which she bought for considerably less than what I paid for my place in a city.

Agribusinesses get the subsidies, the tax breaks, and the support. Not farmers.

Yeah, cause Trump deliberately caused this problem. Illegal immigration has been a problem for decades, but Trump effectively caused this problem in less than 6 months. Whine and cry all you want about sanctuary cities, that isn't the problem. You would think that if illegals are causing so much crime that they would be causing even more in the sanctuary cities. That's not the case.

 

The idea and policy of tariffs is nothing new as well and has been going on since day one of this country. However what it comes down to in this case with the US and China is pretty simple. There could and be damage, real damage done to both sides unless an agreement can be reached. With that said the damage comparison can be measured like this. The US will get hit on the economic side, but the US economy is much more stable and will recover.

The Chinese on the other hand will take a major blow to a overinflated fragile economy that will send it spiraling out of control. Something economic analyst are predicting to happen to China anyway in the future. The damage to the Chinese economy will be long lasting and permanent to some degree.

Previous administrations, both Democrats and Republicans have allowed the US economy to be used as a slush fund . There is no real balance of trade, the trade favors China in a disproportionate way and as a result, US business by and large are locked out of the potential market of over 1.3 billion people for our goods.

We can not do business in China unless we give away our trade secrets our methods and our know how. Our products have ridiculous hurdles placed in front of them to slow the exchange by design unless China scores big on every transaction.

That is what is unfair and Trump is trying to do something about it. I know this confuses and scares people like you because you have never seen a US president fight and stand up for the US like Trump has done.

The Chinese will come to the table with a reluctant but willing attitude soon enough, they have to there is no other choice for China.....

I see no reason for that designation, I think towns and cities should be able to approach law enforcement and address social issues as they deem necessary according to their priorities but I see no need to declare yourself a sanctuary. Crop Insurance doesn't apply here but they still have it and they never lose . They never lose , because taxpayers pay the bill . Show me one poor farmer. I have nothing against farmers. They have the greatest business minds. They lose money , every single solitary year yet never go out of Business I wonder how? They must know the same secret as the Railroad . They lose every year also yet they Thrive .

 

This is just some of the most blatant ignorance I have seen in glaring display in a long time. Farmers have to buy crop insurance from private insurance companies. The program is authorized by the federal government but it doesn't cover all crops and isn't even available for some crops in some counties. And I know lots of poor farmers who lost everything.
